Razorlight on tour with Trantec Wireless
In the five years since the release of their first single, Razorlight have achieved astounding status. In their earlier years they were to be seen supporting bands like Queen + Paul Rodgers, Oasis, and the Rolling Stones; and have since performed at Hyde Park’s Live8, Wembley’s Live Earth, and received nominations for two BRIT awards.
Three million album sales later, they have just completed the European leg of a sell-out tour that in early 2009 takes them on to Japan, Australia, USA and Mexico. The global tour promotes Razorlight’s third album Slipway Fires, and supporting the band is the Trantec S5.5 wireless system which was chosen specifically for the guitars of Johnny Borrell.
Razorlight’s guitar technician, Guy Cowen says, “The transmitters I’d been using for over 4 years were nothing but a headache for me, with constant unpredictable gain loss or boost from the packs. I have upgraded Johnny's guitar rigs for the band’s 3rd album campaign and the old transmitters are out. We now have the new Trantec S5.5 system with five units in total, each dedicated to a specific guitar.
“After only 4 weeks of touring they have already proved their weight in gold, incredibly user friendly, and due to the simple layout of the front panel, you know exactly how each guitar/radio system is performing. One thing that stands out is that I am able to do three shows on one AA battery as opposed to one PP3 per show. This will save us a fortune in batteries over the course of a year. The S5.5 will have paid for itself time and time again before the Slipway Fires campaign is over.”
As well as the technical benefits of the system, Guy Cowen also praised the sonic quality of the S5.5, adding “The guitar sound has also improved as it has added the sparkle and low end that was missing with the old gear. I have dedicated a lot of my time to achieving a great guitar tone for Johnny, and the Trantec systems let me sit back and relax. When the show starts my tone's still there. Why didn't I do this sooner. Trust is a big part of the relationship with all guitar tech's and their equipment, at last I have that trust with my radio system, first class.”
Based on Trantec’s award winning S6000 series, the S5 benefits from high quality, true-diversity operation utilizing credit card size beltpacks, frequency autoscan, in-built Infra-red data link, single AA battery life of over 10 hours, intuitive LCD displays, and professional metal enclosures for both transmitter and receiver.
Trantec’s Head of Sales and Marketing, Mark Parkhouse says, “The S5 Series combines substantial performance capabilities with practical flexibility and I am delighted that Razorlight are so enthusiastic about the product. We wish the band every success with their forthcoming global tour.”
