Trantec ‘s S11 Sound Field System spreads the word in Calderdales’ LEA.
Leading RF specialist Trantec has further augmented its range of advanced radio products for contemporary applications with the addition of its new S11 Sound Field system to their expansive portfolio. Designed and manufactured at their London based HQ, the S11 is a wall mountable version of the hugely successful wireless S10 Sound Field system launched last year.
Working closely with installers, Eurosound UK, The Sound Workshop, Educational Establishments and following general advice from the end user market, Trantec have re-designed the S11 to be a wall mounted self contained unit. Thus making it more flexible and versatile, which will help it fit nicely into most classroom scenarios whilst still having all the benefits and qualities of it’s sister product the S10.
Trantec’s systems have been designed in line with the Buildings Bulletin 1993, which stipulates that all new build schools projects must offer Sound Field solutions, to counter inherently poor acoustics and alleviate learning problems associated with hard of hearing pupils or for those with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD).
Under the Private Funding Initiative (PFI), leading contractors Balfour Beatty formed a partnership with Calderdale’s LEA - the Calderdale’s School’s Joint Venture who awarded The Sound Workshop the project to design and install over 11 S11 systems into Halifax’s new build Savile Park Primary School.
Under the supervision of Director, David Mitchell, the S11 Sound Field systems have successfully amplified and evenly distributed the sound in all the classroom environments, enabling the teachers’ voices to be heard by all the pupils above any background noise.
Additionally, the systems have alleviated much of the teachers’ stress. By amplifying their voices, they are able to be projected audibly without the need to shout.
As a very flexible and multi functional system, the S11 offers auxiliary audio inputs, which allow the integration of other related learning tools such as MP3, CD and VCR’s. In line with the Disability Discrimination Act, (DDA), David Mitchell and his team added a number induction loops, which integrated seamlessly to the S11’s further enhancing the learning experience for hard of hearing pupils.
David Mitchell of The Sound Workshop commented:
“ We’re very pleased with the systems’ performance. It operates with a bank of 32 frequencies, held within the transmitter and the receiver units. This gives us enormous flexibility and the ability to cater for the largest schools, which can deploy a variety of other RF technologies such as radio mics. Using the S11, there is no concern of any frequency interference.”
Similarly endorsing Trantec’s S11, Paul Martin of EuroSound UK added:
“The Trantec R&D team has worked closely with us to ensure that the S11 meets contemporary applications demands. Allowing us to discreetly wall mount the receivers, the S11 offers greater flexibility. Above all it further improves the acoustics, which is what it’s all about.”
